Pope Benedict to become first pontiff in 600 years to resign | Fox News:
"After having repeatedly examined my conscience before God, I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry."This is not exactly unprecedented, but it's been a long time since a Pope has resigned. I am not a Catholic and I have no opinion about who should be elected. I do commend Benedict XVI for his courage in stepping aside.
